C.A.A. Graduate Hooding Ceremony

MSCJ Hooding Candidates
Master's Candidates from the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology

At the conclusion of each semester, faculty from the College of Applied Arts' four departments and schools come together to adorn master's and doctoral level graduates with their official graduation hoods in front of their peers and family. The college began its hooding ceremony tradition in the fall of 2008, and it encourages all students, relatives, and friends to take part in the most special evening of the semester where students are recognized for their academic success, personal accomplishments, and degree completion.

In the Fall of 2008, the College of Applied Arts (CAA) hosted its Inaugural Hooding Ceremony on the Texas State campus. Being that Texas State is a student-centered institution, the CAA moved forward with the implementation of the Hooding Ceremony to recognize the achievement of this milestone in our students' lives as well as to bring attention to the valuable research and innovative collaboration taking place within the College. The ceremony recognizes scholarly achievement, research, and academic rigor. This intimate setting provides closure to a milestone in graduate studies amidst faculty, family, and friends.
